"Compass arrived - It's like brand new! You do damn nice work." ~ Frank C.
Since 1991, I have worked with and learned from numerous compass adjustors. Don Bryant of Jacksonville, FL; Roger Treidel of Atlantic Compass, Annapolis, MD; Bill Ehrhart of Bee Marine Service, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Bill Meilner of Pensacola, FL, and Rob Hempstead of Hempstead Navigation, Exeter, RI, continue to share ideas and information with me. I repair almost all makes of compasses. Island Compasses South maintains a full inventory of compass parts for the major makers of compasses. Additionally, Island Compasses South does nautical restorations and compass adjusting. I also provide adjusting magnets for other compass adjustors. In 1999, the company acquired the adjusting magnet business from Bill Ehrhart of Bee Marine Service, Inc. Compass adjustors now have access to magnets, non-magnetic screwdrivers, magnetometers, and other adjuster supplies from ICS. ICS also offers compass adjustment for all sizes of craft from the smallest fishing boats to the largest ships. Adjusting is accomplished using many methods such as Pelorus, sun compass, gyro, and Ritchie Magtronic. Additionally, Island Compasses South also does nautical restoration of old compasses, azimuth circles, etc. on the premises. ICS has a lathe and milling machine, drill presses, buffers, sandblasting cabinet, oven for baked-on finishes, and numerous pneumatic and electric tools at its disposal. Located near Jacksonville, FL, Island Compasses South stands ready to serve the compass repair and adjusting needs of both commercial and private boat owners.
